MBCD is a computerized system aimed at helping you choose your career or field of study. During the interaction with MBCD you will be requested to respond to questions regarding your career-related aspirations and preferences.
MBCD can help you decide what to study or what career to choose.
Choosing a career is a very important decision because we pay both a psychological and an economical price for wrong decisions. When the loss of potential income is also taken into account, one year at college or at university can be very expensive. A psychological price is also paid, in the form of frustration and dissatisfaction with one's field of study. Therefore, it is worthwhile to invest time and thought when deciding what and where to study.
The importance of the interaction with MBCD in facilitating the career-decision-making process has been widely recognized also by career counselors. The interaction with MBCD is now part of the counseling process in many private and public career-counseling centers.
MBCD is a free service.
There are three stages in MBCD.In the First Stage you will be asked to choose occupation factors you find important in making a career decision, and to rank them according to their importance to you. An optional worksheet is available to assist you with this stage.
The initial interaction usually takes 60-90 minutes to complete, depending on your personal pace. There are several options available to help you verify the results and continue your research. You have access to the system for 90 days so you can return multiple times.
In MBCD, there are 28 factors often used in selecting occupations. These are not the only factors you will want to consider, but they represent factors important to many people and for which a computerized sorting tool can be helpful. The MBCD Worksheet contains a list of the factors and their definitions.
